"Iron Flame" by Rebecca Yarros - Review
"Iron Flame" by Rebecca Yarros is a captivating Fantasy, military, romance novel that takes readers on an emotional journey of love, loss, and self-discovery.
The chemistry between the two protagonists is electric, and Yarros does an excellent job portraying their emotional upheavals as they navigate through a complex web of feelings. I will admit the repetitive narrative where Violet and Zaden have the same argument repeatedly does become a little frustrating. Zaden has so much patience and handles the situations very well, yet if Violet had just listened to Zaden and asked one question that Zaden made clear at the beginning the arguments would not have happened and taken time away from other key parts of the book. Yes, this tension between the characters helped with the SPICE aspect and trust me I’m not complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed these scenes and being able to see the love and relationship between Violet and Zaden evolve and grow was amazing.
The story is well-paced, and the author's writing style is engaging and poignant, making it hard to put the book down. The way she writes the character Andarna is beautiful, she is no longer the little innocent baby but is now truly an adolescent teen full of sass and attitude and I am here for it! I love Andarna and Tarn’s relationship and after what was revealed in the last couple of chapters I can’t wait to see what is next to come and unfortunately, I don’t know how long we will have to wait for book 3 as Yarros has not yet started writing it.
Overall, "Iron Flame" is a beautiful, heart-wrenching, and inspiring story of love, hope, and redemption. It is a must-read for anyone looking for a captivating and emotionally charged Fantasy, military, romance novel with dragons.
