Driving Home For Christmas…

Life has been a whirlwind lately, but in the best way possible. Work has been keeping me incredibly busy, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been promoted since the last time I wrote here! It’s been such a rewarding experience, and I’ve made so many amazing memories along the way.

Now, I’m on a much-needed holiday, spending time with my family back home. This holiday season feels extra special because it’s the first Christmas I’ve spent with my family and in the UK in four years. It’s truly amazing to be surrounded by loved ones during such a festive and cozy time of year.

Of course, no holiday is complete without a good book, and I’m currently reading The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore. It’s the third book in the Dream Harbour series, which I absolutely adore. If you haven’t picked up this series yet, you’re missing out on the perfect small-town cozy romances. Each book features a grumpy-sunshine relationship dynamic that warms your heart, and I love how all the characters intertwine across the series. They’re so lovable and relatable, making it impossible to put the books down.

Whether you’re in need of some holiday cheer or just looking for a heartwarming escape, I can’t recommend the Dream Harbour series enough. It’s the perfect companion for a cozy evening by the fire or during a quiet moment amidst the holiday bustle.

I hope your holiday season is just as magical and filled with love as mine has been so far. Here’s to family, festive reads, and making wonderful memories!

Life Lately…

Hello Bookworms,

Wow has it really been almost 2 months since I last posted here? Life has been crazy busy getting into a new work life balance and routine. I love my new job and I love my little space of cosy in my caravan that I share with two of my co-workers (now friends). It has been a complete whirlwind since moving here, jumping straight into work and training becoming a fully qualified archery instructor, high ropes and zipwire instructor and also an axe throwing instructor.

I will admit for all of these activities that I run, in my head I am living my fantasy novel dreams pretending I’m Feyre from ACOTAR shooting arrows at fae who are disguised as a wolf, climbing the gauntlet like Violet form Fourth Wing and overall just having fun and getting paid to do so!

Since we last spoke I have finished reading Bride by Ali Hazelwood, which was fantastic and I loved how she incorporated a supernatural twist to her writing and it made me love her writing so much more. I also finished reading Emily Wilds Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett the second book in the Emily Wild serise and oh my god I loved this books so much I didnt want it to end, I laughed, I cried, I think my roommates were jenuenly concerned about how invested in this book I was because I honestly felt like I lost a limb when I finished it and realised the third instalment of this serise isnt released untill next year! I also finished reading Godkiller and Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner, these books are beautifully written with such descriptive world building that you feel like you are there, within the pages of the books, the way Kaner has researched and went into incredible detail to correctly represent her characters with disability’s and showing us the readers that no mater what disability you may have it doesn’t hinder your ability to do whatever you put your mind to is fantastic. The diversity of characters and the in-depth mythological and symbolic system of the gods in this book was extraordinary and how they are even at the heart of our own lives in a way was enlightening!

I am now about to dive into the world of Faebound by Saara El-Arifi and I cant wait to discover this new world of adventure as I have heard fantastic reviews!

Life has been busy…

It has been a while since I last posted an update on my blog; I have moved halfway down the country, started a new job, went to the bottom of the country for training and then back to my new home and officially had my first day let loose on park myself today! (I work on a holiday park)

Today, I ran three different activities by myself, and it went really well. I love my job, and it doesn’t feel like work. You know you love your job when you spend all day outside playing with laser tag guns and archery, and you come home at the end of the day feeling happy and grateful for everything in your life. I am really lucky to have a job that I love and enjoy so much, and get to live such a fulfilling and exciting life!

I am currently still reading Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I haven’t had the chance to read in over a week because I have had work, training, and moving to deal with. When I have had the chance, I have been so exhausted that I have just collapsed into bed! Speaking of which, I am off to bed now as I am shattered and need my beauty sleep.

Settling In: Finding Time to Read Amidst a Big Move

Moving to a new place can be both exciting and overwhelming. You have to adjust to a new environment, meet new people, and settle in. Recently, I moved to a holiday park to work and live in my own caravan. While I was excited about the new adventure, I quickly realized that settling in wasn't going to be easy.

Between unpacking, organizing my things, and getting used to my new job, I found that I didn't have any time to read anything. It was frustrating because I love reading, but every time I tried to sit down with a book, something else would come up.

I soon realized that I had to be patient and take things slow. I couldn't expect to do everything at once. Instead, I had to prioritize my tasks and make time for the things that were most important to me.

One of the things that helped me was setting aside a specific time for reading each day. Even if it was just for 15 minutes before bed, I made sure to read something every day. This way, I didn't feel like I was missing out on something that I loved doing.

Another thing that helped me was finding a quiet spot where I could read without any distractions. It was difficult at first because the holiday park was always bustling with activity, but I eventually found a quiet corner where I could sit and read in peace.

Overall, settling in takes time, and it's important to be patient with yourself. While it may feel overwhelming at first, it's important to take things slow and prioritize your tasks. With a bit of effort, you'll find that you can make time for the things that are important to you, even in the midst of a big move.

Getting Ready for a Big Trip: Nails, Packing, and Relaxation

Preparing for a big trip can be overwhelming, but taking care of yourself along the way can make the process much more enjoyable. In this blog post, I'll share some of my recent experiences getting ready for a nine-month trip, including getting my nails done, packing everything I'll need, watching book reviews on YouTube, and getting a massage to relieve tension in my shoulders.

First up: getting my nails done. While this might seem like a small thing, taking the time to indulge in a little self-care can go a long way in boosting your mood and confidence. I opted for a classic nude with some blue swirls and the evil eye for a little protection, which will look polished and put-together throughout my travels. Plus, it's always nice to have pretty nails in vacation photos!

Next on my list was packing. Packing for a long trip can be a daunting task, but I found that breaking it down into smaller steps made it more manageable. I started by making a list of everything I thought I'd need, then went through my closet and picked out items that would be comfortable and versatile. I also made sure to pack a few sentimental items and some home comforts such as my own pillows and bed sets, to help me feel connected to home while I'm away.

In between packing, I took breaks to watch book reviews on YouTube. As an avid reader, I wanted to make sure I had plenty of good books to add to my never ending TBR pile. Watching book reviews helped me discover new titles to add to my reading list, and I'm excited to dive into some new books.

Finally, I am treating myself to a massage tonight to relieve tension in my shoulders. With so much to do before leaving, I found myself getting stressed and anxious. Taking an hour to relax and unwind is just what I need to feel refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of my to-do list.

Overall, getting ready for a big trip can be a lot of work, but it's important to take care of yourself along the way. Whether it's getting your nails done, packing mindfully, or taking a break to watch a few book reviews, don't forget to prioritize your own well-being. Happy travels!

Catching Up with Friends and Family, Packing for Work, and Reading "Bride" by Ali Hazelwood

As we move through life, our priorities change and our routines evolve. We may find ourselves moving to new cities for work, starting new jobs, or simply trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life. In the midst of all this change, it can be easy to lose touch with the people we care about. That's why taking the time to catch up with friends and family is so important, even if it means packing up and moving to a new place.

Recently, I found myself in this exact situation. I had accepted a new job in a new city, and I was faced with the daunting task of packing up my life and starting fresh. But before I could do that, I knew I needed to take some time to reconnect with the people who mattered most to me.

Over the course of a few weeks, I made a point to reach out to friends and family members. It was amazing how quickly we were able to pick up where we left off. We caught up on each other's lives, shared stories and memories, and made plans to see each other in person whenever possible.

In the midst of all this catching up, I also found time to read a book that had been on my TBR list for a while: "Bride" by Ali Hazelwood.

In the end, catching up with friends and family, packing up my life for work, and reading "Bride" all helped me feel more grounded and connected. They reminded me that no matter how much things change, the people we love and the things we care about will always be there for us.

Finding Comfort in Change: A Reflection on Starting a New Book, Rehoming a Pet, and Moving to a New Home.

Starting a new book can be a thrilling experience, especially when you're diving into a new world of fantasy and adventure. That's exactly what I did when I picked up "Court of Winter" by Krista Street. From the very first page, I was hooked. The author's vivid descriptions and relatable characters drew me in, its giving huge ACOTAR vibes and I am here for it and I found myself unable to put the book down.

But amidst the excitement of reading a new book, I was faced with a difficult decision. One of my cats was causing extreme stress to my other cat, and I had to make the tough choice of rehoming her. It was a heartbreaking decision, but ultimately it was the best thing for both of my furry companions.

I then began packing up my belongings in preparation for my move down south for work, I couldn't help but feel a sense of bittersweetness. On the one hand, I was excited about starting a new chapter in my life. On the other hand, I was going to miss my old home and the memories that came with it.

But as I settled down with "Court of Winter" , I knew that everything was going to be okay. The book was a reminder that even in times of change and uncertainty, there is always something to look forward to. Whether it's a new adventure in a book or a fresh start in a new home and place, there's always something exciting waiting just around the corner.

As I turned the pages of the book, I felt a sense of comfort and familiarity. It was as if the characters and their struggles were a reflection of my own experiences. It was a reminder that even in the midst of chaos and change, there is always a way forward.

Starting a new book, rehoming a pet, and moving to a new home are all big changes. But they can also be exciting opportunities for growth and new experiences. And with the right mindset, we can face these changes with courage and optimism.

House of Flame and Shadow Review…

Sarah J. Maas has released "House of Flame and Shadow," the third book in her "Crescent City" series. The novel follows Bryce, the Starborn Fae Princess of Midgard, as she tries to end the tyrannical rule of the all-powerful Asteri. The book meshes together werewolves, Fae, merpeople, angels, demons, and intergalactic parasites, which can be overwhelming at times. Although the crossover with Maas's other series, "A Court of Thorns and Roses," generated hype, Bryce spends only a small portion of the book interacting with these characters. The book's plot is complex and jumps between many different plotlines and locations, which did make it a little difficult to keep track. However, Bryce's character is charming and shines throughout the book. The novel also features engaging romances that give the cast a tangible set of stakes. While Maas excels at creating lovable characters, her world-building is a bit weak in this book. Despite its flaws, "House of Flame and Shadow" delivers on what fans want: action-packed scenes, romance, and world-shattering displays of power.

Lazy day, book talk …

Yesterday and today have been quite lazy for me. I feel exhausted and have been struggling with productivity lately. I am unsure if it's because I have been staying up late, even though I am used to going to bed by 9 PM (yes, I know I sound like an old lady at 26!). However, I love going to bed at a reasonable hour, and my bed is so comfortable. What's not to love about being cosy and comfortable wrapped up in blankets, sipping a cup of tea, and reading a good book?

Yesterday, I spent the entire day reading House of Flame and Shadow, and OMG, I don’t know how to process the information I have just read! Unfortunately, I had to stop reading last night as I had to go out for dinner with family and only had five chapters left! I was thinking about finishing reading the previous night once I got home, but I will admit I was not mentally or physically prepared to finish House of Flame and Shadow, and I’’m still not ready. I love the world of Crescent City, and I don’t want it to end yet! I feel I will be a blubbering mess when I get to the final chapter. Sarah J Mass has a way of writing that pulls me in and has me in a chokehold, and I will always love her books!

I think my next book will be Bride by Ali Hazelwood because I have heard fantastic reviews, and what’s not to love about vampires and werewolves?

But I now need to go and get my but in gear, start getting my life organized, and plan my week.

Sunbringer Book Launch…

Wow, what a day! It was a whirlwind from start to finish. I said goodbye to my friends in the morning, then stopped to visit my godmother and share some of my birthday cake with her. Later, I jumped on the train and headed to the book launch of Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner the second book in the Fallen Gods trilogy.

Hannah Kaner is such a wonderful author who knows how to write visually descriptive and immensely captivating stories, and it was so interesting listening to her describe her writing process and how her first drafts are always mainly dialogue before she begins to edit it and put the story together.

Kaner has a beautiful way of speaking, and she explains her characters and the different depths of love (not just romantic love), the love of friends and family and how she can tackle the subject of faith and belief in such a sensitive way is captivating. She was so lovely and welcoming, and I wish I could remember every question, as all of her answers were fascinating. I haven’t started reading Sunbringer, but I know that book three in the trilogy will be epic! At the end of the discussion, we got our hands on Sunbringer and got our books signed and dedicated to us. We were also gifted with a red rose to symbolise the god of roses within the book Sunbringer (and it’s also Valentines day), and it was the perfect end to the perfect day!

I am now home, and it is currently 11.16 pm as I am writing this. I feel exhausted, but I want to dive into Sunbringer and discover what is in store for our godkiller Kissen.

Post Birthday Blues…

Yesterday was my birthday. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and joy. I spent the day surrounded by my closest friends and family, which made it all the more special. In the morning, I went out for some book shopping and bought a little hall, which I will post about later.

In the evening, we all went out for dinner at one of my favourite Italian restaurants before my friends and I went out for cocktails, and it was a night to remember. We tried some unique and delicious cocktails and enjoyed chatting and laughing. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

After returning home, I snuggled up in bed with my current read, "House of Flame and Shadow" by Sarah J Massuntil, until I fell asleep. It was the best way to end the day, surrounded by the warmth of my loved ones and lost in the magical world of Sarah J Mass.

Overall, it was a fantastic birthday that I will always cherish and remember. I am grateful for all the love and blessings I received from my loved ones.

Book Launch Excitement…

Hello bookworms,

The past few days have gone by quickly and I feel exhausted, even though I haven't done much. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I have a busy schedule ahead. Two of my friends are coming from England to spend a few days with me, and I can't wait to celebrate my 26th birthday with them.

I'm particularly excited for Wednesday, the 14th because I'll be attending the book launch of Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner at Waterstones in Glasgow. I love attending book launches and signings to meet the authors, ask them questions and learn about their creative process. But before I attend this event, I need to find my copy of Godkiller, which is in a box somewhere (I am moving, so my life is in boxes at the moment), so that I can bring it with me and hopefully get it signed!

I am currently reading House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Mass and hope to finish it today or tomorrow to begin re-reading Godkiller before I start Sunbringer. If you are like me and love all things Sarah J. Mass, what are your thoughts on House of Flame and Shadow? I personally am loving it so far, but I'm curious to know if, like me, you were expecting something completely different.

The rest of my day includes tidying up the house, taking pictures for my Instagram, running some errands before my birthday tomorrow, and reading and diving into a magical fantasy world of magic and adventure.

Love of Reading…

There is no denying the fact that reading is a beautiful pastime. It is an excellent way to unwind, relax, and escape into different worlds and characters. Something magical about the written word captures our imaginations and takes us on incredible journeys. However, only some people are book lovers, and some struggle to find the joy in reading. If you are one of those people, fear not; there are ways to rediscover your love for books.

First and foremost, it is essential to find the right book. It might take some trial and error, but you will be hooked once you find a book you love. There are so many genres and authors to choose from, so don't be afraid to experiment. You might enjoy a genre that you never thought you would.

Another way to reignite your love for reading is to make it a habit. Set aside some time each day to read, even if it's just for a few minutes. It could be before bed, during your lunch break, or even on your commute. By making it a routine, you will be more likely to stick to it, and eventually, it will become a natural part of your day.

You could also join a book club or start your own. Reading with others can be a lot of fun, and it's an excellent way to discover new books and authors. You can discuss the books you've read, share your thoughts and opinions, and gain insights from others.

Finally, remember that reading is not a competition. It's not about how many books you've read or how fast you can read them. It's about enjoying the journey and immersing yourself in a good story. So take your time, savour each page, and let yourself get lost in the magic of reading.

How is it the 9th of February…

Wow, January was far too quick!

One minute, I was ill over the new year; the next, I was living and working in the Arctic, and now it’s February, and I am back in the UK.

I have only been home in the UK for a few days. I have moved back in with my parents and am currently packing up my house as I have sold it. I have less than a month to organise my entire life into my car and move down to Bournemouth as I start my new Job on the 1st of March.

I am watching 2024 reset videos on YouTube as I write this blog to help motivate and inspire me. I have had some blues since coming home after spending three months living and working in Lapland, Finland. I treated myself to some retail therapy so that when I got home, I had many parcels to open. I also treated myself to some pampering and got my nails done (I missed having acrylics on), and I am getting my hair done tomorrow (god, it needs it; my split ends are atrocious, and my roots are criminal).

Today is a special day, and it starts my family's birthday week; my Mum’s birthday is today. I made her breakfast in bed, gave her presents and then gave her a lift to go out for lunch with her friends; tonight, we are going out to my favourite restaurant, and I was looking forward to having a cocktail, but unfortunately my dad can no longer come out with us as he has a sheep lambing (he is a sheep farmer, the joy of having a parent who works on a farm, sometimes the farm comes first) which means I will have to drive and in Scotland, there is a zero tolerance for drinking and driving, and Writely so!

I am currently reading Crescent City House of Flame and Shadow, and Sarah J Mass has me in a chokehold! I thought I knew where the story would go, but I was completely wrong! I am addicted, and Hunt Athalar will always have a particular spot in my heart. I wish he was honest and that I was Bryce; he is the ideal book-boyfriend!

"Iron Flame" by Rebecca Yarros - Review

“Iron Flame” book review

"Iron Flame" by Rebecca Yarros is a captivating Fantasy, military, romance novel that takes readers on an emotional journey of love, loss, and self-discovery.

The chemistry between the two protagonists is electric, and Yarros does an excellent job portraying their emotional upheavals as they navigate through a complex web of feelings. I will admit the repetitive narrative where Violet and Zaden have the same argument repeatedly does become a little frustrating. Zaden has so much patience and handles the situations very well, yet if Violet had just listened to Zaden and asked one question that Zaden made clear at the beginning the arguments would not have happened and taken time away from other key parts of the book. Yes, this tension between the characters helped with the SPICE aspect and trust me I’m not complaining, I thoroughly enjoyed these scenes and being able to see the love and relationship between Violet and Zaden evolve and grow was amazing.

The story is well-paced, and the author's writing style is engaging and poignant, making it hard to put the book down. The way she writes the character Andarna is beautiful, she is no longer the little innocent baby but is now truly an adolescent teen full of sass and attitude and I am here for it! I love Andarna and Tarn’s relationship and after what was revealed in the last couple of chapters I can’t wait to see what is next to come and unfortunately, I don’t know how long we will have to wait for book 3 as Yarros has not yet started writing it.

Overall, "Iron Flame" is a beautiful, heart-wrenching, and inspiring story of love, hope, and redemption. It is a must-read for anyone looking for a captivating and emotionally charged Fantasy, military, romance novel with dragons.
